To Prevent Women from Dying in Childbirth, First Stop Blaming Them

Although maternal mortality rates have been on the decline in developing countries worldwide, their rate has increased in the US. In 1987, there were 300 deaths per 100,000 live births but now 850-950 per 100,000 births. Each year there are about 800 women maternal deaths.
